re: I thought traffic cameras could not be used in Texas to issue tickets

Well, apparently there's strength in numbers. The other people who don't give a damn about stopping for a school bus (because that would mean putting down their phone or to stop flipping with the radio) are apparently showing up in droves to contest their ticket with the "I never saw it" defense.

I usually drive 10 mph under the speed limit, so it's pretty frustrating to have some camera automatically mail a ticket.

The only traffic that gets impeded by someone going 10 mph under the speed limit (which is legal) is those who don't look up from their cell phone until it's too late to pass, then they get pissed off and ride their arse. Or those who are too stupid to take advantage of legal passing lanes. The only "impediment" is their stupidity.

What town?
It is from Humble. In regards to my normal driving practices (10 mph under speed limit), that is really only on the interstate and it is because I drive a Jeep Wrangler with a lift kit. Not exactly a quick vehicle and the noise only gets louder the faster you drive. So, I stay in the right land and drive about 65 mph. Inside the city I am almost always a little below the speed limit.
I'll vent a little -
I got one of these tickets a few years ago around Atascacita when a yellow light turned red after I had passed across the intersection. The video wasn't conclusive when it turned red, but it was too much trouble to drive 75 miles to fight it so I just paid it.
The ticket I received this week is for $75. It seems unreasonable that I can be given a fine when there is no proof that I violated any law. A vehicle I own appears to have not come to a complete stop, but I own multiple vehicles and have five drivers in my family. There is not a photo of the driver. I know this isn't a criminal case, but isn't it the city's job to prove who violated the law?
As a side note, if cameras are going to be used to enforce fines, why not just require all vehicles to send real time GPS and speed information to the closest police department? Why not just take a photo and time stamp of every car when it gets on the swamp freeway (I-20) just east of Lafayette and take a second one when you get to the other side just west of Baton Rouge? Calculate the average speed and if it is higher than the limit, just mail them a $200 ticket.

Ok, you aren't telling the complete truth. I would like to know how a bus that is three lanes over take a picture and video of your car all the while there were so many cars between y'all that you couldn't see the bus. Also, since you have said a few times that you couldn't see the bus, how do you know it was dropping kids off at an part end complex and none needed to cross the road?

Google their police department and check to see what the logo or seal is. Does it match what came on the ticket? I had that happen traveling and it didn't match up the ticket was from a company who owned the camera equipment. I asked around and it didn't hold up so I didn't have to pay and didn't go against my record.

The cameras they use are advanced and expensive. They are actually taking a lot of heat from the taxpayers for that (it has cost over $50M to put them in buses). They zoom and capture HD footage. They snapped my license plate. The ticketing department explained to me that this specific location has garnered more disputed tickets than any location. I was unlucky to have my plate snapped and they have people review the video and capture as many plates as possible. They told me they get about 30 cars every time a bus stops at that spot. They send you a link to the video when you get your ticket in the mail. The ticketing office told me they drop kids off at the apartment complex on Harry Hines, which is on the right side of the road, I was on the left. The cameras can snap pictures of front plates and rear plates and capture videos both ways.
LINK
Edit: I also just saw that a guy in the video got a ticket in the same place I did. They show the location in the video.

Here is what you millennials don't understand:
When those yellow lights start flashing on a school bus, you need to prepare to stop.
When that yellow light comes on at a traffic signal, you need to prepare to stop.
Watch for school buses and people who might step out in front of you instead of driving balls to the wall at all times.
(This next one will blow your mind)
You can be cited for speeding if you are going 45 mph in a 55 mph zone if the conditions that exist, such as foot traffic, car traffic or weather, do not make it "reasonable and prudent" to drive 55 mph.

6th Amendment.
F that.
F that.

The first four words of the Sixth Amendment show that you don't know what you're talking about:
It is not a criminal matter, it's civil.
quote:
In all criminal prosecutions
It is not a criminal matter, it's civil.

It's still extortion. You can at least fight a ticket in court when a cop gives it to you. A sheep, you are.

One of your buddies beat one, then posted a link saying 68 percent of the school bus tickets have been dismissed.
