I was sent a camera ticket that was attached to a fricking school bus here in Dallas. It was a school bus I never even saw and it was four lanes over from me on an incredibly busy one way street called Harry Hines. I always stop for school buses, but I never even knew this one was there, not to mention slamming on my brakes on a busy 4 lane street during rush hour would instantly cause a massive pile up. I fought the ticket and told them it was unreasonable for me to stop in that situation because the bus was out of sight and it was dangerous to stop. The fricking worker explicitly told me that they rely on people not fighting these tickets and I quote, "the city just uses this as a goldmine." They threw out the ticket. FIGHT THE TICKET.

I think this is your problem. You need to be more aware of your surroundings.

Why would I be looking at a school bus that is stopped three lanes over from me when I am driving in rush hour traffic...it is unreasonable and the city even told me so. I am focused on the Dallas assholes driving in front of me and the ones riding my tailgate and not using blinkers.

Because the law says that you have to stop when there's no grass median or concrete divider between you... period.

That "city worker" needs to be fired.

If it's worth your time to go fight a little ticket like that so you can whine about how you broke the law, but "it's not fair," more power to you.

Yep, coming to a complete stop on a 45 mph one way street when I am on the complete opposite side of the road at 5pm when no one in front of me or behind me is stopping makes a lot of sense....guaranteed wreck you dumbass.

The kids were being dropped off at a small apartment complex on the right side of the road, not crossing the street.

Just because something is a law doesn't mean it is valid. Exhibit A: prohibition.

Edit: also it's about a $250 ticket. I don't just give my money to the gubment because they say I should.

Sounds like you were in a line of people (including yourself) who didn't know the law, and frankly didn't care.

I bet you'd prefer to get rear-ended than run over a kid... no? You seem like you wouldn't give a damn one way or the other, though, just another speed bump.

Prohibition was valid for the entirety of the time it was in place, and was later repealed by the people.

You're not good at this. But who knows, maybe the legislature will repeal the statute requiring a stop for school busses to help your retarded arse one day.

I'm not trolling one bit. People blowing past stopped school buses is a big problem in Texas because people like you refuse to pull their head out of their arse, and when informed that they are breaking the law, become indignant that they are required to stop in the first place.

frick you.

The point is going over your head 10 year old. Why do we even have the right to fight tickets and appeal decisions by the government if, according to you, every violation they say you made is accurate and justified?

I brought the photos and videos to the government and showed them that the school bus was not conspicuous with their sign and could not be seen by a reasonable driver. They agreed immediately and dismissed it. I didn't pull up behind the god damn school bus and whiz around it. It was never visible in the first place, it was three lanes over with lanes packed full of cars in the way. They also said that others have gotten tickets in that same spot and they dismiss those too because school bus can not be seen from the lanes on the opposite side of the road. It's not a suburb, it is downtown Dallas in rush hour and kids are not crossing the street. I can't stop for something I can't fricking see, and the city agrees.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself that you weaseled your way out of a deserved ticket for blowing past a stopped school bus.

But I suspect you haven't an ounce of shame, so I might as well be talking to a wall.

Yes, of course, those big yellow school buses with flashing red lights are SO "inconspicuous." Dumbass.

Prime example of why there should be an IQ test to get a driver's license. You'd be a constant passenger on one of those inconspicuous busses.

Traffic cameras are all over Texas. In many areas they even speed up the yellow light so that it will generate more revenue for the company.

They were done away with in Houston not long ago when they had a lesbian mayor.
