Going to be pretty loud in there. Hope they give him some hearing protection.

I'm not fascinated with watching him die, but I am thankful for true justice. He deserves this. It's also good to talk about it because it deters crime.

Doesn't one of the executioners shoot a blank, but they don't know who has it...

I know that's what Utah did with Gary Gilmore.

quote:

In Utah, firing squads consisted of five volunteer law enforcement officers[14][15] from the county in which the conviction of the offender took place. The five executioners were equipped with .30-30-caliber rifles and off-the-shelf Winchester 150-grain (9.7 g) SilverTip ammunition. Gilmore was restrained and hooded, and the shots were fired at a distance of 20 feet (6.1 m), aiming at the chest.

Prison officials stated that the firing squad comprised four men with live rounds, and one with a blank, so that the shooters could not be certain as to who fired the fatal shots.[16] However, upon inspecting the clothes worn by his brother Gary at his execution, Mikal Gilmore noted five holes in the shirt. According to his memoir Shot in the Heart, "the state of Utah, apparently, had taken no chances on the morning that it put my brother to death."[17]

All 3 will have live rounds.

It says all 3 rounds are live.

Three rounds of .308 to the chest should do the trick.

T minus 5 minutes...

No guilt

I would think it would be the opposite. One of them has a possibility of having a blank. That way in your mind, you could always say you didn't shoot him. If only one guy has a bullet and he flinches or doesn't kill him somehow then you've got a problem.

Right. It's so he doesn't know when to duck as they pull the triggers.

Exactly. If they're shooting with AR style rifles, the weaker recoil blank cartridge will not eject.

quote:

Astandard AR-15 will not reliably cycle blank rounds without a special attachment called a "blank-firing adapter" because blank cartridges don't generate enough pressure to properly operate the action of the firearm; essentially, the lack of a projectile means there's not enough force to push the slide back and cycle the next round.
