Guess what? Not her first rodeo. In 2022 she pled nolo contendere to disorderly conduct. Partying and making loud noise at her apartment neighbors complain. Police arrive, she treats them like a nuisance and tells them her father is the police chief of North Ridgefield (OH). Cops tell he to be quiet and leave. Shortly thereafter they respond again to another, separate complaint and again she acts the fool. Off you go. No jail time, but got fined. Not fixable. To the other lawyers on here that think that the judge was out of line for locking her up for 7 days, maybe he knew something we didn’t.

Not sure why any lawyer would think he was out of line. I assume many here have never been in a court room.

Rolling through the sentence, almost like nobody would notice for one. Most judges will start with an explanation of their departure or at least finish with it. Refusing the motion to withdraw the plea, which is common in most jurisdictions. Impuning the defense attorney's "practice". I will bet you the judge does not want to have a pre-plea conference on every misdemeanor plea before him, no matter how much he works. He just added a whole bunch of work for everyone for nothing. Just accept the motion to withdraw and roll on.

ETA maybe the DA's office and defense bar should get together and schedule a conference to get his take on every misdemeanor plea coming before him.

Does anyone else think it is interesting that SCOTUS just ruled on Hunter v. United States ? Not germane to this case but the idea that an appeal waiver controls even if a sentence is “unconstitutional" made it pop to mind when watching this. The court overturned 8-1 (3-3-2)-1 really, with Thomas being the oddball with his contrarian self.

Damn, she is guilty but it sounds like her lawyer was too busy posting on TD to keep her from avoiding jail time.
