I saw my first tranny in the wild, not NOLA or college

Buying a chainsaw, get to the counter to pay, kid has stubble, long hair, and well done make up.
After the initial confusion (it is small town Louisiana after all), I pay and get out the door.
What I'm confused about, the guy clearly liked men. So he's gay. And thinking back to when I was his age, there was a younger gay guy who frequented the local bar covered in glitter, carrying a purse, and wearing a women's tank top. But he wasn't a tranny.
He was just a feminine gay dude.
Wtf is going on.

I think that the only time I've ever seen trannys was walking down Juniper Street in Midtown Atlanta at night.
Come to think of it, I'm not sure if they were tranny prostitutes or just cross dressing gay prostitutes. They were always black even though the area is overwhelmingly white.
