Went around with a rake and tried to brush as much off as I could reach.

Never heard of this but I did my best on the roof.

Do I need to clear the gutters out of snow tomorrow?

I was afraid you’d say that! Guess I’ll have to take a dirt rake and drag it off.

Absolutely

I am building a house now and have a new roof on.

I'd like to go rake my roof off, but not sure if I can make it there

It is recommended that gutters be cleared of snow even if there is no snow on the eaves

mean when it starts to melt tomorrow or Thursday?

It may have started to melt already due to the heat from the interior of the house. I just went walking around and some roofs had area without snow because it melted

I checked temps and decided to do it now at 26F than in the morning when it’s supposed to be 10-12F. I used a plastic wide rake and knocked it out quickly

Was surprised that there is some steady melt on 2 sides of my house despite the temps. Glad I went out there

Heat from your house. Even with R-30+ insulation, there is still some air leaking from your house into the attic warming it enough to cause melt.

Good plan…I didn’t know a plastic rake would work. I have got one of those wide rakes as well.

Is no one concerned about damaging shingles running rakes and what not across roofs?

Same here. Just did mine. There was one spot that had double the snow of anywhere else. Thanks for this thread.

Basically just used a kitchen step stool and raked the edge of my entire roof. I could reach about 3-4ft of the roof and raked all the snow/ice off. Kinda therapeutic TBH. Shoulders were hurting by the end

A plastic rake shouldn't do damage if you are just doing it lightly to knock snow off

A push broom would be the better option if you have one.
