Searching online for this is turning out to be way more detailed than I thought. Is there a specific lock and chain that can’t be cut that anyone can recommend?

Neither. Trying to create a good steal-proof generator setup before hurricane season starts.

Are you also looking for one that is oxy acetylene torch proof as well?

They’re out there but would probably cost more than what you are trying to protect.

The Rockwell Index is the relative penetrative hardness of steel. The jaws of the most powerful bolt cutters (hydraulic) are rated at a 47 RI. Look for chain and lock hasps that are rated above 47.

The only place you will find chain like this is tire protection chain for the mining industry, notably at Pewag and Rud. These chains are rated between 63 and 67 RI.

For the padlock, look at this one. It has a hasp with a 55 RI.

But note: a good angle grinder with a specialty disk will cut both this lock and chain. It will take over five minutes and make a lot of noise (and sparks at night) but if no one is around, it can be done.

TL/DR? Here.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to try and make any sense out of run-on drivel like this without punctuation people can’t figure out when to breathe reading this shite and it makes it really difficult to get any sense of what you are trying to communicate when you stream of consciousness compose responses for others to attempt to figure out because last time I checked periods and commas and capital letters were free to use here composing like this shows you either don’t care how people read or you were never properly educated in composition or some combination of the two which is probably the worst scenario I could think of

tl/dr: Ain’t nobody gonna read your run-on shite

No such thing a cut proof chain. You will just have to get some that’s to big to get the bolt cutters around.

So simple yet genius. Didn’t think of that.

I don't suppose you can weld can you? Enough time and anything can be stolen. Weld a cage and concrete it in the ground and make something that takes so long to steal that it rules out 95% of thieves.
