Are you serious in asking how it works?
78+40 is 118
This year is 2018
Subtracting your age from 118 will give you the year you were born assuming you’re not older than 119 years old or younger than 19 years old
78+40 is 118

78-40=38
38+40=78
1978 is the year

You can use any numbers that add up to equal 118

ETA: it doesn’t work if you were born Dec 9-31. It only works if you’ve already had your birthday this year.
39 years old. Born 1978. 78-39+40=79 =\= 78
