Holy shite! I couldn't imagine waiting and hour and a half. I've been to the emergency room twice and was luck enough to be taken back almost immediately both times.

I guess they finally got the hint.

You think the pressure from the altitude helped ?

could have - i got used to passing them - I normally get them every few years. was at a client in MN and passed one that got stuck and I had to pull it out - that was not fun.

the worst is if the docs put a stent in and you have to pull the stent out - last time I did that, I took an Oxycodone about 45 mins before and just did it - not fun, but the oxy killed the pain lol

Had that about 10 years ago. So strange pissing sand. My stones are from dehydration, usually brought about by a gluten exposure (massive amounts of diarrhea), and consist of calcium oxalate . Since I started managing that part of my diet, my stones have pretty much gone away.

I have avoided them for 15 years by drinking a lot of water. Especially when drinking alcohol or anything else that could dehydrate.

And they found this sucker by accident before any pain. I had an MRI and CtScan on my lower back and it showed severe Hydronephrosis. The stone was the cause. Even stranger is looking back at a 2022 CtScan the same stone may have been in my kidney though not causing an obstruction.

The pain yesterday lasted for 12 hours. I hope the straggler pieces got close to the end,

Drink a lot of water and lay on your stomach. And try to sleep on your stomach.

The only relief I've ever gotten is to take as hot a bath as I could possibly stand and just soak in the tub. That for me is like a drug and the pain eases real fast.

Only problem is, when I get out and dry off and eventually cool down, it's back.

An old "home remedy" I have tried and seemed to help was to mix 2 oz. of lemon juice with 2 oz. of olive oil, drink it down and then chase it with a glass of cold water. Do this 3-4 times a day.

No idea, I've never had kidney stones. I've had friends and family members who have and swear by it though.

My stones are formed from uric acid, the same thing that causes gout in some people.

I'm on a single pill a day called Allopurinol

That's my situation too. Uric acid. I hate taking medicine but after a gout flare up, the doctor put me on a mild allopurinol and it's been great for that, kidney stones, and even my joints.

I haven't had a kidney stone *knocks on wood* in 7 years but have had 3.

1st. didn't realize it. thought I strained my back working out. Painful but it went away after an hour and I thought that was weird.

2nd: I asked my wife to kill me. Morphine didn't kill the pain in the ER. It felt like a rambo knife sawing back and forth in my lower back for about 3 hours.

3rd: back to ER and they gave me another shot of Morphine and at least I felt better and it quickly passed.

4th: the pain was mild but the stone stayed in bladder for about 10day with a constant urge to pee. Drinking constantly, I just couldn't get it to pass. Not sure if that or the intense pain time was the worst.

I had a serious kidney stone problem from age 24-36. It was unbearable at times how bad it was.

I changed urologists and the new one said drink a small glass of orange juice every morning and every night. I did and haven’t had a single kidney stone in 30 years.

With all due respect this does nothing. 90% of kidney stones are calcium and once those stones form they aren’t going to dissolve or break up without a medical procedure.
I believe the ones made of uric acid can be dissolved but it’s an uncommon application for an even more uncommon type of stone.

I have passed many of them over the years. The very first one I had in my late 20’s was too big to pass and I had to have a “basket” procedure to remove it. Since then, I have had many more that I was fortunate enough to pass on my own.

Mine are the oxylate (sp?) stones and they will break up into pieces.
That is the good news. The bad news is my last CT Scan showed 13 of them in my kidneys.

The worst part for me is when the stone is passing from my kidneys to my bladder. Once it makes it into my bladder, I usually get immediate relief from the pain. When it actually passes through my urethra, it is a quick jolt of minor pain, but that part isn’t unbearable. I can actually hear it hit the porcelain of the toilet when it passes. LOL.

My stones were analyzed in a lab and are uric acid based. It works for me and makes passing them an easier task.

Damn, dude, WTF. Did the doc just tell you you're a "stone former"? Is there no working theory why you have so many?

Yeah, for me, in a sense, this is the only actually terrible part. The rest is mostly annoyance.

What's the longest you've incubated one in your bladder? I did 3 weeks on my last one!

I always try to catch them, so I put a sieve down there. They look like gothic torture devices.
