Calcasieu Parish public grade school I had em. It was normal to me. There was an art to making sure you straw didn't puncture all the way through the other side of the bag.
I do remember some years back having a discussion about milk bags with my college roommate. He was dumbfounded at the idea of a "bag of milk" as well.
But he was from Ohio. He said they called Frito Pie, a walking taco.

Nope.
Just 1/2 pints in a normal carton.
Bags were for f@gs.

We had bags of milk as well. Graduated in 1996. Started seeing them in 89-90 I think

Those bags of milk were known as pouches. Borden Dairy used to produce those pouches back in the mid 1990's. Many pouches would leak causing a mess during shipping.

Not reading the entire thread, so this has probably already been said.
-Absolutely existed
-Shove your thumbs in far enough to stretch the bag, but not enough to rip it = boobs.
-Put the straw in and inflate, then push the straw out the other side and you could make a pretty loud bang by stomping on them. Messy bang if you didn't drink all the milk first.
-Instantly became a way to spray milk all over everyone because kids are assholes.
-The chocolate milk was the best. The whole milk had a weird plastic taste. I probably will develop cancer or tits from the stuff that leached into the milk.

I think it's funny. Had bag milk in elementary. But in high school we had cartons. Great way to smoke a joint at school in the yard. Drink your milk. Light said joint. Position end of joint where you would drink milk inside of carton. Pretend to drink milk and get lit.

Might have already been covered, but you poke all the way through and you have two choices:
1) Run the bag through. Have both holes (entry and exit wound) sealed with the straw and bite a hole in the corner to drink.
2) Let that sweet chocolate leak through and use the straw to drink it out of the square on your tray.
I have always thought I was in the younger group reading the OT but according to responses in this thread I am not...20 years ago bagged milk was LA public school standard, K-12.

My school served the milk in brown paper bags, which didn't work very well, but, at least the bags were biodegradable and could be used to judge whether some kid's skin color warranted him being called one racial epithet or another, depending on his hue.
Mind you I did not approve of any of this.

I remember when we got them and they brought examples into class to teach us how to punch the straw in.
This for me as well. I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. The 1st few lunches were pretty damn messy. Also in LA, but down in Iberia parish
