Had a little figure on top of me and I could see the whole room and I was trying to get my wife to wake up but I couldn’t do anything and it felt like forever. Once I woke up I was like

I have heard people that went through it and my mom had the one where the figure was walking slowly in the room towards her. My friend said he had that happened and it punched him and he woke up with a bruise.

Ahhhh, the old hag rode you

I’ve had the experience of 3 scientist type figures in lad coats looking down and speaking to each other, about me, in some sort of German sounding tongue.

I had a pretty wild sleep paralysis episode 2.5 years ago. I just moved to Dallas, and lived alone in a 1b apartment. I took a melatonin to fall asleep, and as I was falling asleep, I saw a figure standing by my bedroom door, a tall guy with dreads wearing a big red t-shirt. I freaked out, and screamed at the top of my lungs, "WHO THE frick ARE YOU?!" and jumped out of bed, in complete darkness and charged the "guy". I slammed him into my bedroom wall, only to feel my bedside fan break in half. I immediately turned the lights on, and my heart was racing a mile a minute. It took me a few hours to go back to sleep.

it felt so real, I thought someone was legitimately in my bedroom. and he would've gotten dealt with if it were true.

Happened to me once, scary af. I’m still not convinced it wasn’t a demon.

Do you sleep on your back? I think it mostly happens to people who sleep on their back, but I can't really sleep any other way. Sleep paralysis can be frightening.

liar.

I have it all the time. the scariest ones arent the ones where she is on top of you.... its the ones where you hear her, them walking around your house, going into your kids rooms.....and you can do nothing about it..... those are the ones you dread.

I’ve never dealt with it. But my wife used to all the time when she was younger and still does a few times a year. It’s scary seeing it from my perspective. I can’t even imagine how scary it is if you’re the one it’s happening to.

I go through periods where I'll have sleep paralysis frequently, and then not at all for months/years.

It's gotten to the point that I know what's happening. I just close my eyes and try to stay calm and start wiggling my fingers. The worst is when you're trying to scream as loudly as you can and your wife just hears a slight moan.

I feel like this has become the trendy diagnosis for just having weird dreams.

I don't think that's sleep paralysis.

The freaky thing about sleep paralysis is you WANT to do that, but are unable to move.

have you tried Lucid dreaming? No thats the exact opposite. I got decent at it and could stay dreaming for a little bit, if i didnt venture far from reality.

The word “Nightmare” is old as dirt, baw

The word nightmare is derived from the Old English mare, a mythological demon or goblin who torments others with frightening dreams. The term has no connection with the Modern English word for a female horse. The word nightmare is cognate with the Dutch term nachtmerrie and German Nachtmahr (dated).

When I was younger I tried lucid dreaming, could only do it once or twice.

However once I realize in my sleep that I'm in the middle of a sleep paralysis episode it becomes a lucid dream from which I can't wake up. I close my eyes (in the dream) because I know that as soon as I look up that thing is coming for me and I'll be unable to make a sound or move.

I sleep on my side and I felt something trying to bite my thigh and I was trying to get up and I saw this figure on top of my legs. Being that I was on my side, I could see my wife’s face and I was trying to get her attention but there was nothing I could do.

Don’t have them as much as I used to ( thank god). I would lay there, couldn’t move and tried to talk but couldn’t. Counting backwards helped me snap out.

I really never had the old hag experience but I have heard noises outside my bedroom before. It’s honestly frightening when you can’t fricking move.

I'm not sure what to call it, but I googled what happened and the first thing that popped up was sleep paralysis. It might have been lucid dreaming from the melotonin.

Nonetheless, it was scary as hell. Now, if I get freaked out like that, I just tell myself it's my brain messing with me
