Good thread. I'm happy for you.
I've been pretty good with handling my weight, but ever since the pandemic it's hard for me to give a frick so I'm now up to 213 lbs. Threads like this are what I need to wake up and start eating better and working out again.
Thanks.

No cheat meals?
Nope. Believe me, reprogramming my brain into eating healthy was more difficult than when I gave up alcohol many years ago.

also added proteins such as eggs, fish, chicken, beans, or dairy in every other meal. Also, it is important to drink more water, cut your carb consumption, set a sleep schedule, and of course, include aerobic exercises in your daily routine. I started following these rules about a month ago, and I've lost about 15 pounds.
Great start
I need to start tracking my weight again tomorrow

The carnivore diet is by far the beat and most effective diet I’ve ever done. Never regret cutting now.

That’s fantastic!!! Great accomplishment.
I need to revamp our menus at home - and this gave me a little bit of inspiration to do so.

Congrats! I’m in a similar boat. 39 years old, 6’ and I was up to 240. I’ve made 4 big changes that are making a difference for me;
1- bought a squat rack and I’m doing 5x5 plus some kettlebell stuff 3x per week
2- started jiu jitsu, class 2x per week
3- started walking with a buddy at work. It’s shocking how much you can get in if you walk a few laps every couple hours (4 miles per day usually)
4- stopped eating big dinners. Keep it to a very small portion, or ideally a protein shake replacement.
With those changes im down 11 lbs in about a month. Some jeans I recently bought are already loose.

This one change brought me several benefits. Besides losing weight, I sleep much better when I’m not digesting a big meal. I don’t wake up feeling bloated. Most days, I eat lunch between 1 and 2 and try to hold off on eating anything until 9am or so. Coffee + butter/cream gets me through my morning workout.
However, it’s not so easy to do if you are married or in a relationship and your partner isn’t on board.

if you have coscto membership, they have a kirkland brand brown rice and quinoa that comes in a microwavable bag. its really healthy and takes 2 minutes. we add it to a to of stuff.
I’m probably only 15ish lbs overweight at 5’10” 180-185 but once I hit 195 I started altering small stuff, and my mom introduced me to those things. they’re awesome. substituting that in for your dinner filler is super easy and I cut 10 lbs in like a month without doing anything else different

Good for you. We are all a little different, but I 48 and lost lost 30 lbs mainly by walking without really changing my diet. Like you, no more heartburn and slept much better. My blood pressure was still high and I was challenged to quit alcohol to see what happened. After only a month, my blood pressure dropped to normal levels. I couldn’t believe it. It’s been a long while since I have had a drink. I will drink in moderation at some point, because I love bourbon, but I was clearly drinking too much and not good for my issues.

Awesome job!
For those of you looking for more pointers, I'll tell you what I did. When the pandemic first started I was hovering around 183 lbs at a height of 5 feet, 9 inches. When I decided I wanted to lose the dad bod and become a bit more lean, this is how I did it:
Breakfast: two sausage, egg, and cheese burritos with a black coffee from McDonald's
Lunch: A 330 calorie sub sandwich from the local grocery store
Dinner: A foot-long Club or Turkey from Subway
On top of that, I drank more water and walked 4 1/2-5 1/4 miles per day six days a week. In September or so I started to jog and am now running two miles in less than 13 minutes on the treadmill.
I am now hovering between 150-155 lbs and am maintaining that weight quite effectively, cheat days included. When I'm allowed to go back to the gym (I'm in the military), I'm going to get myself a personal trainer and start building up muscle. I have the makings of a pretty awesome six pack and don't want that opportunity to go by.

Congrats
I’m doing the same thing (I’m doing a little bit of the DASH diet) but I’m trying to eat zero sugar, lots of fiber, and watching fat I’m 6’1” and 225
I cut out sodas, junk food, bread, white rice, pasta, fried foods, take out, and other foods that contribute to sugar
Instead I focused on eggs, cheese, fish, chicken, shrimp, scallops, red meat (once a week) brown rice, beans, leafy vegetables, potato’s (once a week), strawberries, blackberries, nuts, pepperonis, and several different kinds of meat sticks for snacks.
I do use some butter, olive oil or olive oil spray when cooking
I have 1 cheat day a week where if I want to I might eat sushi, pizza, burger, or something else but it’s only for 1 meal that day.
Water, water, water.
Meal prepping for work is a breeze now and the $$$$ I save taking my lunch is a nice bonus to eating healthy.
Good luck and hope you keep it off.

If you’re the type that gets a little obsessive about things, a Fitbit and 10k steps has always been a good kickstarter for me.
Gets you active, which tends to help you eat better.
I realize it’s pretty gimmicky, but it does the trick.
