No white pages, only yellow pages for my parish. Still, what a waste of resources. I wonder how many people under 60 would have any use for one at all.

Back in the day you could look up someone’s address if they refused to come check your knuckles at Sonic

Remember there were some people who requested not to have their number in the phonebook? I remember I had a chick's number, whose parents requested not to have their number in the phone book... And only a handful of people had her number and someone offered me $20 if I would tell them (because she would tell people not to tell other people her number) and I gave it to them and she never talked to me again and her dad called my parents about it.

Was it too much to ask to just respect her privacy?

As a business owner, it's a pain in the arse trying to track down people you need to contact these days.

Swear I still use the books. I like them. Helps me shop little local businesses instead of big box when possible.

Phone books used to be a crank caller's dream.

Woe to anyone who had an embarrassing last name.

I remember a running joke about asking for a phone book to use as a kid’s booster seat: Folks from the big city came to some podunk town and asked for a phone book to boost their kid at the table. The puzzled locals asked what good a 1/2 inch boost was gonna do. Or something like that.

Related: The 1984 Baton Rouge phone book w/ surrounding parishes and Yellow Pages was a BEAST.

If they aren't on Google and/or have their own website then their marketing plan is for shite.

I was in HS and someone offered me $20. As a teenager I really wasn't one to respond "okay guys please respect her privacy".
