Do you have excessive daytime sleepiness? My first thought is this might be cataplexy.

Define excessive? On the weekends I tend to take a nap for over an hour unless I’m busy, out of town, something like that.

I can get awfully tired during a work day, but I chalk that up to me being a night owl and staying up late.

Oddly enough, narcoleptics sometimes struggle with falling asleep at night or catch a second wind when it’s time to be going to bed. If you’ve seen a cardiologist and it’s not vascular then I suggest seeing a sleep specialist and having a sleep study done if they recommend it.

ETA: cataplexy is a symptom of narcolepsy. It’s the loss of muscle control caused by a strong emotion (laughter is the most common).

Laughter-induced syncope. It’s a real thing and a problem with the autonomic nervous system. If your doctor actually told you it’s just how you are, you really need a new doctor. You need a full workup by a neurologist and cardiologist with the most important test being a tilt table study.

Cataplexy associated with narcolepsy is a valid consideration but that’s not it. This is going to be autonomic nervous system dysfunction with a vagal response and triggering of baroreceptors. Laughter-induced syncope is a real, albeit pretty rare, condition.

It’s unlikely atrial fib then. Please see my other comments about this. This is neurological

Hopefully you’re referring to fainting and not fainting which is specifically laughter-induced as related to a-fib

Try Hypotension (LowBlood Pressure)

My resting pulse rate is usually around 50 bpm. If it gets under that rate and I were to jump up and try to run, I get light-headed and feel like I’m going to pass out.

Everything gets like COD when a concussion grenade goes off near you.

Good luck on figuring it out.

I'm with ya. My resting rate hovers around 55-60. Mine is artificially created with meds but it is the same response. Doc tells me lifting things over 20lbs is a no no. Another problem is I am 6'4" and the blood has a farther way to get before it can stabilize. Seems to hit out of no where. Sometimes I can jump up and be fine. Other times like maybe 30 min later, I have to sit back down for about a min or I will blackout. I have had 2 spills while on Ambien because I get up and roam in the early morning hours unaware of anything. I passed out and hit the dining room table then fell square on my tailbone on a hard wood floor. Still feeling that shite months later.

It was not so much that he did not have a sense of humor or could not smile and chuckle alittle but if you got him laughing say with his eyes watering or his side hurting he was going down.

I don't want to live here, but I have bills to pay for now. Hopefully in the next few months I can book it to the PNW.
