You take your sandals out of the closet for the following year's beach trip and there is still sand in that shite even after being hosed off.
A couple of years ago we went to visit some friends and they lived about a mile from the beach so we had to drive. I was finding sand in my truck 2 years later.

fact. i feel bad for the "i'll never get in that water" people.
i think this is a big problem for peopel that hate the beach. they think water is supposed to feel like a swimming pool and dont get in or they are scared of the water.
so they equate the beach with just laying there.
or they are too poor to enjoy things.
i mean how can you beat waking up in the morning, having coffee on the balcony before everyone else wakes up, then going for a morning run on the beach and then cooking breakfast for everyone.
setup the tents abotu 830 for the day, start drinking and chilling by 10. drinking while helping the kids boogie board until time for lunch. cooking some hotdogs and hamburgers for lunch.
going back and relaxing for a while in the afternoon and maybe going for a ride on the tube on the beach or just snorkling some or boogie boarding or body surfing if the waves are right. if not, throwing the ball around while sipping a drink.
afternoon showering and grilling up some steaks and shrimp and catching the mlb game while you eat and drink
playing some cards with the adults while you drink until its time to take the kids crab hunting on the beach.
shower and then chill on balcony drinking and listening to the waves shooting the shite and smoking cigars with the other dads.
doesnt get much more relaxing then that.

Nothing tastes better than food cooked in a condo after a long day at the beach

bro, shower when coming off the beach. leave the wagon with the toys, tents and sandles outside the room.
shower before bed and have indoor sandles to wear.
wash sheets eod and sweep the floors every day.
not that damn hard really.

Our youngest kid is 15 and she hates the beach

I don't hate the beach. As I said I often like the IDEA of the beach more than the beach itself.
Beach trips are fine, and I like beach communities and that vibe. I like going to the Islands.
I do hate sand though.

most people's version of "the beach" is just too crowded for me
I go on vacation to generally get away from people, which is why we default to the mountains
although one of my most memorable moments was watching the sunset while having a picnic on La Push Beach #2 with nowhere else around

You can do that a hundred places outside of the beach. Many more scenic.
no offense....you live in alaska and think year around snow is awesome....we are not going to agree.
and i said that mountains and other places are awesome too.
why not do both? people act like you can only do one vacation.
a yearly beach trip with the kids and a couple buddies is pretty awesome.
just as a adults only trip to a 5 star resort is pretty awesome too. If you like to relax...the beach is awesome. if you are a person that must "do or go places for entertainment" then you are not going to like it as much.
personally i dont like just lounging around unless im reading a book. so i find things i do like. I like being in the water throwing the ball around. I like to boogie board and body surf and helping my kids do that.
i do find peopel that like the beach usually fall into 2 catagories
1) are poor and its all they can afford and plopping their fat arse down and doign nothing is amazing to them
2) they are middle to wealthy and love spending time with thier kids and are just able to have fun no matter what.

When I was a kid, I would be bored with it in a couple of hours, tops.
I think people like beach communities more than the beach.

Yeah, I can have fun just about anywhere. It's just not my favorite place to go.

I hope my kid is like me. I hate going to the beach, and I hope I make it through my entire life without going to Disney world. Always have felt that way.
Give me a camping trip in the mountains or a fishing trip on a calm day.

I mean the next trip I am planning and going to dump a bunch of money into is the Grecian Isles. I don't mind that vibe.

We'll get a few hours per trip out of her actually on the beach if we are lucky. She's not a fan.
We took her whitewater rafting a few years ago and she loved it though.

Well look who has sand in their vagina. The beach is awesome, I'll take Caribbean or Mediterranean beaches over anywhere else in the world.

i used to too unless we went with friends. i get that and get why people get bored if you just sit on the beach all day.
i like doing the beach and the things the communities offer.
i also like disney
i love the mountains, love white water rafting, riding 4 wheelers, camping, fly fishing etc.
but i cant think of one vacation ever that i have not enjoyed. not one. I always find a way to enjoy it. hell we go visit family in nola often and i could take a vacation there and find plenty to do and enjoy. same with houston.
its all about what you make of it.
