I played a mobile game that required you to join an alliance. My alliance was all US and South Afrikans.
Those SA guys were freaking hilarious when they went after each other in pidgin.

Yeah, but the real problem here is the BBC. Rational people don't hear pidgin and think, "Oh, wow! What an exciting, unique language!" They realize it's just slang / dialect, and if they want to communicate something in writing to someone talking like that, they use Standard English.
Deep down inside, those BBC people are racist as the day is long, and they don't think anyone who speaks pidgin can read real English. Believe me, many of them can.
