26. I'm for all intents and purposes "fine" except for my feet which are fricked and random nerve pain once every month or so. I can run now but at times the joints are just so crushed up. I'm (most likely) going to lose the ability to walk one day, I had a PA say to me and a doctor secretly tell my mother and not me.

Remember to say this to yourself.

"I have a pizza for Barry White."

Works for me everytime.

Do research on the internet. WebMD, the OT, things of that nature. Your fears will be put to bed really fast when self diagnosing.

I believe losing a friend to cancer and then having another guy I know through friends get diagnoses a few weeks ago has spiked it, because I usually don't really think about this stuff.

yep.

same thing happened to an old friend.
two people we knew died of prostate cancer within two weeks. my friend now reads spiritual books about death and dying. EVERY DAY.

Yes. I was driving earlier and had a migraine. My stress level rose and I felt my throat hurt and I thought it was swelling and I assumed I was going to just stop breathing while driving and I started freaking out. I then blamed the tap water I had earlier that day and almost pulled over to throw up and purge my system. I'm highly confident I suffer from OCD but I've never been to a therapist.

The smallest sickness = I'm going to die

I wouldn't say I'm quite to that extent, but I definitely feel for you and somewhat understand how it is.

Especially recently, whenever my stress level gets too high I just can't function. It sucks. I've just been too busy, and lazy, to actually do something about it.

Valium, Xanax, or Klonopoin will fix this. You're having anxiety my friend. You're just in a rough patch. Go see your doctor. Tell them you don't want an ssri.

I have some free time this week. I just have to suck it up and make the damn call. Curious, why not an SSRI?

Unless your doctor does a blood test and shows you that your serotonin is low I wouldn't take one. Ssris add serotonin to your brain and if your levels are good then its not gonna work and you may get crappy side effects like sleep problems etc etc. Doctors just throw ssris at everyone nowadays just hoping they'll work. That's why when you read reviews on people who take Ssris, it's always split 50/50. The people who hate them aren't suffering from low serotonin. Too much serotonin isn't good. They're are 3 types of depression/anxiety causes and low serotonin is only one. Your diet is another. You may be low in certain vitamins.

I took paxil for anxiety about 4 years ago and it ruined my life for 4 months. Xanxax is ok but it is too short acting and doctors don't like prescribing it. However if your serotonin is low an ssri may change your life for the better. Just get tested first. I prefer a valium every other day. Dont drink on an ssri either. Big mistake. I did once and ended up fighting my brother in law at a family function. Bad times. I was checking everyones knuckles lol. If you smoke pot, I would suggest temporarily quitting during bouts of anxiety, until you're out of the woods.

Thank you. That's definitely good to know. I just know I've hit that point where getting by just isn't cutting it any longer.

It's not super severe, but the thought of serious illness is always lingering in the back of my mind, making me sometimes overanalyze meaningless, routine sensations. It kind of sucks just from an anxiety standpoint.
