Let's call it what it is. ALL of these daily wrecks are caused by two things:

1. Complete idiots driving 80 while on their cell phones.

2. 18 wheelers driving at 80 and cutting in and out of traffic like they are in a sports car.

It is mind numbing that it happens over and over and, as someone who drives long distance interstate weekly, it makes me crazy that I am putting my safety in these idiots hands.

The Camaro was speeding and rear ended another vehicle and caused a wreck. This, in turn, caused a second wreck which was basically an explosion which probably has cost multiple lives. As one person said I think I will call the police and report the Camaro.

Gotcha. Thanks for clarifying. Anybody know If there’s a way to access those DOTD cameras on the bridge?

I-10 West is closed at Mile Marker 122 (Atchafalaya Basin Bridge) due to a multi-vehicle accident with vehicle fire. Congestion is approaching 3 miles in length. Use alternate route.

It is amazing what some people consider acceptable risk when they drive. I'm surprised that more people aren't crashed out daily when I drive. Hell, just this morning there was a truck pulling a utility trailer that was weaving in and out of traffic like his arse was on fire. That guy will probably have to get hurt or hurt someone before he realizes that he's an idiot. It took me 10 years of driving or so before I naturally slowed down though.

AVOID I-10 West on the Basin Bridge. Multiple 18-wheelers are engulfed in flames between Whiskey Bay and Butte La Rose. All lanes closed at this time.

In the map legend on the right, click "Cameras". The one on the map in the middle of the red traffic is the one to watch.

I was referring to the speeding camero smart arse.

Come on, man. The cameras aren't fitted with Camaro filters. They can see a speeding Camaro and track it backwards from the scene of the crash all the way to when it is first seen on camera. I promise you they've already secured all relevant footage pertaining to this wreck.

Looks like a black Camaro pulled over to the side out in front of the wreck?

Swing and a miss. Is there some reason you have to point attacks at others like an a-hole or is it just your nature?

I've started taking 190 more and more to avoid these assholes on I-10. Most 190 drivers are aware of the speed traps, and drive safer.

It was a white Camaro and the initial wreck was at least a quarter, maybe half mile ahead of the fire

Ib4 Oweo comes in the thread and asks, "Is this I-10W on the bridge?" "I heard there was a wreck but didn't know if this was it."

I just looked at that picture real good. That white Camaro is the second car pulled over. It did rear end a black car.

Holy shite! I knew it was close behind me, but now it looks like it was closer to 150 yards at the most.

The initial wreck was in the left lane, but a pick up truck had stopped in the right lane talking to the people in the wreck. Once I saw the smoke and the flames shooting up I pulled along the truck honking at him telling him to get out of the damn way because cars need to move.
