Give it a couple hours, then release the hounds.

I am sick of these marsh fires. With all this grass burning, it feels like the bayou has turned into Willie Nelson’s basement without the high.
Some of these fires are hard to fight. As I was going to Bayou Blue yesterday, I thought I was seeing smoke from the fire near US 90, but the plume of smoke was from the Coteau Fire that started last week and reignited. That one is burning the peat layer underground.
The issue is when the winds lay down at night and the smoke settles in one place creating zero visibility. Yesterday they were hoping that the winds would stay up, but they didn’t.
Also, along US 90 the fire is burning again in areas where the fire already burned through so there is plenty to burn.
I think because of the size and what is burning as long as there are no homes in the path, the plan is to just let the fires burn themselves out.

They burn the marsh from Raceland to Bayou Blue every year. Moves the deer from the swamp to the trees so they easier to hunt.

It’s obviously the deep state trying to convince us that dry grass burns. If you want the truth, watch this YouTube video. They have been lying to us forever.

I miss the old days when the marsh and cane burned on the regular.
We wouldn’t burn our marsh till the end of February after trapping season was over. The marsh would be dry and we would light it behind a good North wind and everything would be over in a matter of hours. About 4,000 acres.
Now they are burning early. The deer hunters do this because they have no trapper to override them.
The marsh is still green. Too early to burn. Hence all of the smoke.
Now I can’t get to the feed store in Raceland because of smoke. Nuts.

Took me almost 2.5 hours to get from Harahan to Houma, usually takes 50 minutes
Absolutely ridiculous
DOT and the Police need to do a much better job with signage informing of the closures BEFORE you get to the congested areas. There aren't many ways to get around these areas and I could have saved about 30 minutes or more had things been done better.

I work nights in raceland and live right around the exit of hwy. 316. Was not a fun morning.

Well they are 100% responsible for 10s of thousands of people getting to and from work late today and about 20 car accidents last night. They should go to jail for this.

Of course I did that, but so did everyone else
But first I went down 182 in Raceland since it looked open up to Bourg rd and they turned you around at 90, that shouldn't have been allowed to happen and wasted so much time
