Where? Is it before or after the bridge? The bridge may just be up.

First responders are heroically flummoxed over the situation. God bless them for having to put up with pissy commuters.

Boat pulled down power lines in front my house

Due to a down power line near Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, all north and south bound lanes of Highway 23 are blocked. Entergy has been notified and is currently en route. Expect major delays in this area. We will update this situation as information becomes available. Thank you for your patience.

I just checked Google Maps. It said that it would be closed until 9:30 pm.

Yikes I feel sorry for anyone who has to pass through that area.

It would have been smart to at least have some interconnected streets in that area or a second bridge.

Wasn’t there a plan to extend Peters Road over the intracoastal south of the airbase?

The only way around it looks like on Google Maps there is a shell road road by the levee that May bypass it, but the Google Street View driver did not go all the way down one of the side streets that take you to it. It may not even be open to vehicle traffic.

So another possible detour if the ferry is open is to head on down to Point a La Hashe and cross the Mississippi then come up the east side to Chalmette and then up 510.
