I've never had one of these before, where you pay maybe $250/year for quarterly filter changes and "checkups". Seems like a lot of money to change a $5 filter. Anybody use this service?

Had one years ago on an old HVAC system. Don't remember the cost or specifics but the plan also provided discounted repairs (parts & labor) plus priority scheduling ahead of people w/o plans.

If you are able, but cases of filters and change your own.
Keep your condensing units clean. Have a competent mechanic inspect any gas furnaces every two or three seasons.

Just got the one for $25 a month with accutemp. We will see how it goes but 3 cleaning a year which I need with a big tree that drops a lot in the yard. Plus you get $100 credit for every year on the program towards a unit replacement when the time comes. Also discounts on all service besides the cleanings

quote:that just makes you a captive buyer. I’m sure the markup takes this into account.

Does it offer discounts into any non maintenance work? Like relocating an outdoor unit?

I have been involved in a few.
The service is never done on time or at all.
You will need to keep your foot on their throat quarterly to get it done.
Or vet your service company better than I did.
ETA: Commercial, not residential.
