I’m pretty sure that’s just the baseline for every GFS model. They start there then work of the data to steer it one way or another.

We're talking about a wave that hasn't even exited Africa yet. I don't know why this is even a conversation yet if I'm being honest.

Is that a penis?

If you're referring to whatever the frick the "storm slinky" is, sure does look like one.

Edit: if we can get a good layman's terms explanation of wtf it is, maybe we can add it to the Bingo card.

The 6z had it hitting charleston as a 3

And the next run will be for Galveston, Then the Yucatan.

This far out is just something to talk about. Hopefully it goes out to sea and has no landfall.

But I guess everyone should look over their preparation lists...

It must be close to football season when the GFS has a cat 3 headed hitting Houma/Thibodeaux area on Aug 18 and The Euro has a catagory 5 just waiting to get into the gulf at the same time.

Opening weekend just isn't the same when you're not trying to fit football into your gassing up and picking shite up preparations.

I guess Mother Nature doesn’t like Nicholls playing in Week 0 on national television.

I believe it's from the wave that just exited Africa so not like a true ghost storm, I know the Euro has been curving this way out to sea for the last sevearl runs so we shall see.

Yes, it's the AOI that the NHC has at 50%. The 12z Euro EPS did a good job of highlighting the potential solutions. There is an early developing OTS cluster, a slower developing cluster that tracks similar to the 18z GFS, and a late developing cluster that tracks similar to the 12z GFS. Also, it appears to be developing the next wave (red circle).

The current background state would tend to favor slower developing storms, and the upper levels look pretty hostile as well as this wave tracks across the Atlantic. I wouldn't be surprised to see this be trouble down the road.
