This is probably a dumb question, but how does our recon flight work? Do we always stay over water for a particular reason? I understand it in a different country, but we avoided the USVI and Puerto Rico as well.

I thought I read something about the SFMR only working well over deep water, but I'm not sure.

Hurricane Warnings just off EBR.

With what I'm seeing now with Nate, might wake up to something interesting in the morning. Like a mid range tropical storm.

Is it fair to label a 135kt surface wind as suspect?

Well we don't like to drop sondes over land for some reason. I guess the spray from the shallow waters and rain can mess with the SFMR as well.

I think the article said something about the shallow water depth and/or seafloor messing with the way SFMR takes readings.

I'm not actually sure how it works to be honest. Probably should study up before the recons start rolling tomorrow.

Still too early to tell with the track being so uncertain. If it stays the current path and CAT1 then you may want to change

Recon getting winds out of the north on this pass, so I'd imagine they'll see a center.

Do you think staying at the camp in Port Eads is safe?

Without a doubt. Those are the type of places they recommend when they say to seek higher ground.
