Yeah, my biggest concern is dealing with my kids either on the road or at home without power.

I love looking at general weather forecasts on sites for next few days. Some have it as a 10% chance to rain here Sunday and mostly sunny.

The colors in the maps I'm posting are wind speed (in this case at 850 hPa), the little number in the middle is the pressure. At the top is says "Valid at **Z". Take the **z number and subtract 5 to get central time on the date shown.

When will we begin to see impacts here in South Louisiana?

You can't be picky, but I don't like it being too much of a fast mover. When Gustav came in it hit BTR at full strength, based on it moving at 20 mph northward. Lots of downed lines.
I could see this happening again. Of course Gustav was a lot stronger at 115

OU kicks at 11. Hopefully my DirecTV can survive through the game.

Gustav wrecked shite over on the Northshore. I was talking about that earlier it's the only hurricane I ever saw tornadoes in with a neighborhood near me getting destroyed by one. That storm was scary for me. Saw that one form in the backyard for a brief moment then dissipate. It was crazy to see. Never saw a tornado up close before. After that storm I said any CAT 2 or higher and I'm out. As bad as Katrina was where I saw trees basically bent over touching the ground I and pine needles impaling other trees I still think Gustav was worse right in my spot...

The most damage Katrina did around me was mostly just knock trees over on power lines. Wasn't really many poles broken in half or tornadoes that just carved a path. It was a different story about 30 miles down the road but Gustav tore paths through neighborhoods right by me and just picked poles up and tossed them 100 ft. away from where they were from tornadoes.
