Mother of God. And strengthening?

Yes.

As far as I can tell. Cloudtops cooling still. HRWF (hurricane specific model) has her drop to 897ish tonight with about 190 mph winds.

This isn't an unreasonable scenario fwiw.

Man. I'd love to see video of those hurricane hunters flying into this storm. It has to be one bumpy ride

That's pressure at landfall, though, not the lowest pressure the storm ever reached.

Latest sonde had a 168 kt (193 mph) reading at the surface! Probably a gust.

Mean for the bottom 150 m a stout 158 kt (about 180 mph).

I am really worried about the number of deaths this storm is going to inflict in Puerto Rico which has a population of somewhere around 3.5 million people. We still haven't heard from Dominica today. I'm see Puerto Rico being decimated especially San Juan which is one of my favorite cities.

The Cruise ship industry is going to be forced to only port in Cozumel as all of the Leeward Islands are pretty much fricked for the foreseeable future.

HH made 5th pass. 906.

And that's about as perfect as I've ever seen in the Atlantic.
