St. Croix could be in really bad shape. Their airport and sea port are both on the central/western end of the island as well as the windward side with respect to Maria.

If nothing else St. Croix wasn't in bad shape after Irma went through. St. Thomas and St. Marten got the worst of all that, there were some power outages, but other than that the Island was doing well.

Don't see a flag on it either.

Pressures are flagged in the center.

922-920 mb my guess

It looks like the hurricane force winds may have expanded quite a bit as well. SFMR winds of 65kt or higher were found 45 nautical miles from the center on the way in. That is in the SW quadrant, where the NHC said the 64kt winds were only 20nm on the last advisory.

We'll have to wait and see what the NHC says.

Looks like the official pressure is 920mb. Eye diameter is 5 nm.

I like how when you say this I can read the data and see it too now .

8 -> 5nm implies an EWRC due to the shrinkage no?

Not really. Implies she's getting stronger in the short run.

It's when you see the second eyewall form up that the replacement begins.

I'll note typically these super small eyes don't hold on for a long time. They probably need a bigger eyewall to keep sucking up more energy.

One of the worst things about Maria is that it will compound Irma recovery efforts. People have been evacuating from St Thomas & St John to P.R. Relief supplies have been flown into San Juan & St. Croix. Now instead of helping with Irma, they will have their own disaster to deal with.
