closer view , Cat 2/3 between Tampa and Orlando. Looks like Tampa takes the brunt inland, but Fort Meyers gets blasted by Irma as a Cat 4.

My GF in Covington is ready to leave right fricking now. If this thing gets any closer she wont stop until she sees the Omaha skyline.

I now live in Alexandria/Pineville... I'm guessing my family... or at least my parents... would come to my place to evacuate if a major storm started heading for NOLA

my sister and her family... I have no idea

Maybe the Scientologists in Clearwater can set up a force field.

That's scary because no part of Florida is spared

My brother and his family is in Alex, wife is due within the next two weeks. Hoping this thing stays clear but seems the shift is more western with every model run. South Florida looks inevitable.

Just a voice of reason from what I've seen. Doesn't the turn seem more abrupt in the euro than the gfs because it's updated every 12 hours and not 6? They seem to be in decently close agreement to me. Unless I'm missing something in the comparison.

Euro has it further south I believe?

Also 81 W as opposed to 80 W on last model before moving north.

My faith in her turning is shaken every 6 hours.

yesterday's 00z Euro had Irma in the Bahamas on 9/11

tonight's has it now on the FL west coast

for 9/12

yesterday's 00z Euro said Irma would be in the Atlantic prepping for a run at SC

tonight's has it making the 2nd landfall on FL's west coast

I looked at the comparison between the newest gfs and euro. I didn't analyze that closely. I just saw rough agreement between the two.

the agreement is nice... I do agree

but the westward slide needs to stop

ETA: unless Irma wants to slide all the way to Mexico

They agreed pretty well about 2 days ago on a Charleston to obx landfall. I understand the concern.
