I just purchased a Hobie Cat 18 to track storms!! Me and a buddy plan to go hunting and do some quantitative work in the wind speeds that it pushes the boat in the open waters. Anyone done anything like this for tips? I am deciding when to begin tracking each storm. I hope the inventory of toilet paper is restocked that would make for a messy situation if not. All answers are appreciate!!

Well I’m a nerd too so who are those peeps. I’ve tracked stormed in my vehicle never in a boat!! I’ve only sailed twice in my life. I’m not sure if this was smart or dumb yet

Ive been doing this for a few years now. Best place to launch your Hobie is where most of the storms start, on the coast of West Africa. If you make it into the eye early you can ride it to where it makes landfall in LA or SC! Make sure to bring your passport though as some veer off into Mexico

Best of luck!
