Seriously though, we have hogs, bobcats, yotes, so I always carry my .40. I also walk with my rifle loaded, one in the chamber in both hands across my chest in a defensive position. You never know what's going to jump out in front of you.

Illegal for bowhunters. Illegal on national Wildlife Refuges.

College roommate had this happen, wounded buck jumped up on him, and he ended up killing it with his knife. He is a very experienced hunter too. He waited after he shot it, approached cautiously, prodded the downed deer with his rifle and backed off. Then he set his rifle against a fence post and proceeded to flip the buck over (it was lodged up against a wire fence) which is when the Buck went crazy. Good for the deer in my opinion, part of the food chain and totally their right to fight back.

Like my buddy says: "frick that deer. If they had invented high power rifles with scopes they would be hunting us."

I've hunted my entire life in hog infested areas, as well as areas full of bobcats and coyotes.

I have never felt threatened in my entire life.

I have no idea why people are so afraid of hogs

I've never had a hog not run. I use to stalk them with my bow.

Never even thought about carrying a pistol.

So in all your life have you ever come across a bobcat on the trail eating a meal? Or a coyote?

I had a bobcat attack and kill a racoon behind me while deer hunting before. He ran when he saw me.

I was turkey hunting in west Texas, heard something behind me, and it was a coyote in full stalk mode, he immediately ran when he realized I wasn't a turkey.

I don't disagree with you, generally.

I have one right behind my house that don't GAF, though.
He's all but come up on me.

The next time will be the last time, though.

Bc a hog will frick your world up

We also killed a rattanake sitting in the middle of a trail in early January this year, it was 35 degrees. Never take for granted that just because it's winter you won't run across snakes. This was in Central Alabama.

We run across cottonmouth's year round in the marsh. Yeah, you ever almost stepped on a cottonmouth tracking a deer in the marsh?? Didn't think so.

I don't hunt (I prefer to fish), but these stories are pretty funny. In a matter of milliseconds, the hunter become the hunted if not done correctly

I always root for the animal in these situations. What's the point of having a weapon if it's not at the ready?
