Well.. You just have to come to the realization that there is nothing you can do to change things so there is no point in bothering yourself with it. It's just part of life. What if you would have decided to go and on your way you would have been killed in a vehicle accident? You are thinking about it assuming that if you would have decided to take the opportunity, everything would be much better off. Just be thankful you don't live in a 3rd world country and get more than a half of bowl a rice a day, to eat.

True. Our outcomes are altered by our decisions we make everyday..

This should be good. If there is one thing I can assure you, if it is something about me involving a kid. it is fake news.

The great Gus had the secret to this question:

quote:

“Yesterday's gone on down the river and you can't get it back.” ...“If you want one thing too much it’s likely to be a disappointment. The healthy way is to learn to like the everyday things, like soft beds and buttermilk—and a feisty gentlemen like myself.”

Of course, he was shot to death with arrows so...

OP is kicking me in the feels.

As I’ve posted many times before, I was accepted into one of the most prestigious and selective PhD programs in the country a few years ago. Moved there and everything and three weeks before the semester started, we tucked tail and moved back “home” for me to get a job and have more kids.

Two years later and I’m teaching guitar lessons to kids who don’t practice and still not making as much as I would have on my meager PhD stipend.

frick this shite, man. If it wasn’t for my family, I wouldn’t have anything to keep me going. Of course if it wasn’t for my family, I wouldn’t have had to leave the PhD program.

So, yeah. There’s something about chance, missing it, and regretting it. Poor can stand for passing over opportunities repeatedly and here I am. $1800/month before taxes and thankful my wife is a teacher so we can make ends meet.

Yep. Failure is no thing. If you haven't failed, you haven't pushed any limits
