How does this not already exist? The deseg order ended years ago.

For example, when I look at the three closest elementary school districts in my area, they all look pretty "neighborhood" to me, except that a lot of people in the neighborhood aren't using them.

Don't like this. Expressways tend to devalue everything around them.

Community policing doesn't mean inspection sticker checkpoints. And yes, the funding would require a culture shift within the department.

Dude, GTFO. You've brought zilch to this thread. If anyone took it on the race track, it's the guy that made the initial racial joke.

The statistics are true, but "black people" are not all created equally. Plenty of hardworking folks out there who don't deserve to be lumped in with the parasitic thugs.

Not untrue, but at the same time little effort is exerted to clean up their communities. We aren't talking about a small percentage of blacks that are criminals or parasites. This is a majority. And while "thug culture" is a huge problem for black men, it does not address the issue with women in the black community - which are an equal, if not greater, drain on the taxpayers.

Is it racism when assertions are backed up by statistics? Or are we simply not allowed to hold communities accountable anymore?

So all black people need to get out of BR? Does that include the black engineer at the desk next to mine and his family that includes 2 college students at LSU?

This should happen before more money is spent.

Needs to be done, but it would frick with the Garden District and LSU area. Just as many NIMBY's as the burbs.

I like this idea. Get over the intracoastal and get it south. North Loop across the old bridge and through Central/Denham/Walker.

Obviously it depends on the person, but there are a lot of people that are upset about people talking about their race...

1. Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line (not run by CATS) from the river down Florida to atleast the Cortana Mall
2. BRT line from OLOL/MOL down perkins cross the acadian thruway, connect to plank road and end by the airport
3. The already planned lsu-downtown streetcar, but extend it to ben hur
4. Allow a private company to take over cats
5. Legalize all drugs and any other vice
6. Build loop
7. synchornize stoplights or replace with roundabouts depending on which is the best for that particular intersection
8. More cabs or rideshare companies
9. outlaw inspection sticker/seatbelt or any other bullshite checkpoint that BRPD loves to set up

Turn Florida Blvd in to an expressway from downtown to Flannery/Oneal - no traffic lights, overpasses at major intersections, on and off ramps, and a streetcar running down the middle.
Change the service roads to one way, two-lane streets that would cover all access to businesses.

1) Dismantle EBRPSB and move to an unrestricted voucher system.

Until you improve the school system, no major business will want to put down roots here.

Instead of looking at what you would do as emperor with an endless budget, what would be one small thing you would do to make BR just a little bit better this year?

1. Better ways to got North and South in BR.
anytime you have to cross the interstates it's a cluster.
2. Make Florida Blvd and Airline freeways with one way service roads.
3. Work on better ways to keep our city cleaner. Cutting grass, grass in curb and sidewalk cracks, litter, blight, etc.
4. Change the New bridge into and out of Baton Rouge. There has to be a better way.
5. New Bridge that connects Siegen Lane to West BR.
6. Make Nicholson Corridor Baton Rouge's Walking Destination. This area should be the best BR has to offer since it is between downtown and LSU.
7. Fix Nicholson/Brightside intersection.
8. Go ahead and make Nicholson a 4 lane highway all the way to I-10 at Hwy. 30 in Gonzales. This with the new Miss River bridge(#5) would create a nice alternative to the interstate and a loop.
9. Make OLOL create an alternative entrance/Exit to the hospital besides Hennessy. Make a road that goes from back of Hennessy to between I-10 and I-12. This way people can hit both interstates easier. They already own the land except for a small piece.
10. Make more than one I-10 entry lane on Siegen going West or close the street before it and move to a new location.
11. Make all major roads have to have Right turn lanes. Ex. Bluebonnet and Staring.

12. I know a longshot and would never happen but if we could find a way to move Exxon we could extend Downtown that way. Exxon is the first thing people see coming into Baton Rouge.
