Hanging out with or encountered?

If he was "hanging out" then I would imagine those people would be brought in for questioning.

My understanding was that one of the cops that died basically was shot as soon as he walked out of the store? I mean I'm guessing this was fairly well planned. He got into town and one way or another scoped out the cop hangouts, then found the one that was the best for an ambush.

A fairly easy way to have an advantage over officers would be by shooting at them from over 50 yards away until they were able to grab their long guns. Morning shift change is a pretty good time to expect cops to be grabbing coffee, all he has to do is set up 50-75 yards away and there would be a bunch away from their squad cars out of reach of their long guns. A 9 mm handgun from 75 yards is not a good weapon choice, him being in the marines probably knew this.

So he'd been in Baton Rouge a couple days then.

Well if he had literally shown up yesterday, it would of been pretty hard to case the place and plan out something like this without a lot of help.

I guess my point it, I'm curious if there is an underground network right now planning this shite.

Awfully big coincidence that two ex marines did somewhat similar ambushes of cops this close together. I mean I can't remember the last time there has been a cop ambush like this period.

Isn't it really close to BRPD HQ? It wouldn't take much to put 2+2 together.

I doubt it. He seemed like a loner from watching his youtube channel..

He also didn't seem like he would do something this extreme. He was aggrivating as frick but he seemed positive for the most part and not violently hateful from his videos.

That, and it's not a secret that nicer convenience stores will frequently have cops hanging out. There's a Valero station in Houston not too far from the muni courts where you can see 3 or more cruisers in the parking lot at times. You're going to know it's a hangout just from driving by.

That's basically the MO of all of these "terrorists". Rarely are suicidal guys happy, out going, family men.

The Dallas shooter seemed to be a part of that larger network something called like Black snipers? Just seem to be a lot of comparisons between the two guys.

This guy was from out of town, and I don't know how long he has been in Baton Rouge. But I'm guessing most likely he had some locals giving him tips on where the cops go?

He was a radical idiot, you can see it in his videos. He probably just asked locals and then got some of them to join him. He was a real nut job

I agree he had help to plan this.
You can park your car on the road behind Benny's as a getaway car.
You have a lot of people coming in and out of Benny's and between the car wash, their corporate office is in back, and b-quik there gives you basically a easy place to take officers out.
Then you can pop some shots off and hide and when the police surround the store on airline you can take off from the car on the backroad.

I used to live in Southdowns, and it was very rare that one wasn't there. Usually around shift change, the parking lot would be full of cop cars
