frick the French! Twice America has came and helped pull the Germans off their sorry asses
When we had to bomb Libya in 1986. The ungrateful bastards refused to let American aircraft fly over their airspace. We "accidentally" bombed the French embassy in Libya on that raid. My God, I loved President Reagan.
When the Germans rolled into Paris the bastards stood there sniveling.
For sale: French military rifle. Only dropped once.
The weeping Frenchman, 1940

“I’d rather have a German division infront of me than a French one behind me”

The elderly American gentleman arrived in Paris by plane.
At the French Customs he fumbled for his passport.
"You 'Ave been to 'Franze' before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically.
The old gent admitted that he had been to France previously.
"Zen, you should know enough to 'ave your passport ready for inspection."
The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it."
"Dat is impossible! You Americans alwayz 'ave to show your passports on arrival in Franze!"
The American senior looked him straight in the eye and said, 'Last time, when I landed on D Day in 1944, I couldn't find a fricking Frenchman to give it to'

There’s an argument that had the Germans prepped better, started earlier in the year and pressed on full force into Moscow instead of getting bogged down at Stalingrad and elsewhere, they might have destabilized the USSR enough to force it into another armistice or even capitulation.
Just to play Devil’s advocate here, Napoleon took Moscow and it didn’t do him any good.
The Russian army is almost impossible to defeat on their home turf. They can just keep pulling further and further back until you run out of steam and your logistics are stretched so far that your front line troops can’t get food, fuel, ammo, etc.
But I do get what you’re saying.

The American Artillery was historically good going back to the Civil War that produced some really godd weapons and strategies on the battlefield.
The Germans and French rewrote the rules in WWI though with the big rail guns etc that were employed at the Marne, The Sonne and Verdun. Those artillery guns were almost apocalyptic in use.It sends chills just thinking about it

You’ll get all kinds of esoterica in response, but the real overriding factor was this:
In the late 1800’s Bismark united the German Republics. He beat the crap out of everyone, including the French, and he did it by being more mobile. The Germans kept that philosophy, and it served them in WWII as well. Bismark used trains, and the Nazis used tanks and trucks as well as trains. WWI was the exception - I guess because of the invention of the machine gun, but IDK.

I know I've seen video footage of Hitler in Paris. He never set foot in Washington

I'm in the middle of A World Undone which is a more survey book for the entire conflict if you want a "one volume, one conflict" solution
Read that book late last year/early this year. Really enjoyed that one.
