Engagement rings are an idiotic concept anyway. I mean, I get the gesture and the symbolism, but when you start spending thousands of dollars...shits for the birds. Any woman worth a damn would be like "No, no...let's use that money to put towards an awesome trip together" or "Let's put that in the house down payment fund".
