I don't think the reason he doesn't have a QB job is because he sucks. DO you honestly think there are 64 QBs in the league better than him? I'm not sure there are 32 better than him. That being said, I also don't think it his politics are the reason either. I think it's that he's not good enough for a team to want to deal with the sideshow and potential fan disruption that is Kapernick.
And for clarification purposes, his politics suck.

Last year, his great coming out was to announce his romantic involvement with NESSA (Diab) who apparently is an MTV type. Who also happens to be of the Islamic faith.
This year no mention of her from PR types. Could he just have had his (presumed) heart broken?
