I do my own teeth. I haven’t had anything I couldn’t fix with a dremel tool yet

Andre Bruni DDS and his wife, who is also a dentist run several dental offices in Baton Rouge. They own SEVERAL of the most expensive homes in the Highland Road area.

Ive been going to the same dentist for 36 years. Never had a cavity, no braces. I only got cleanings once per year until I broke two molars over the course of the last 4 years. The crowns were reasonably priced.

There needs to be a ADA code associated with any charges. There are "usual and customary fees" for all codes and the fees should fall in line with those fees.

I asked her what had to be evaluated as she has the super xrays and she has been in my mouth 5 times in the last 6 weeks. She said it was an evaluation for future treatment. The evaluation visit would cost me $180.
You're getting hosed. Is there something actually wrong with your teeth? What is a deep cleaning, something a homeless person needs?

Dental is worth pricing around. I've saved big bucks over the years.

What got me to do it is when I was the last appointment of the day and I went down the public elevator and the doctor when down his private elevator. He got in a brand new 100,000 convertable and I said "bullshite, not out of my pocket".

I priced around and immediately saved HALF. Almost a grand. Eff 'em.

It's less of a pain in the arse and the money can be just as good in many cases. Less liability too.

I stopped trusting dentist when I was once at an appointment and my dentist asked me "what insurance do you have?" I told him and then he said "you have two cavities that needs to be filled".

And it seems like people have root canals a lot more today than before.. Maybe I just notice it now, but I don't trust dentist.

Went to the same dentist every 6 months for 20 years, had a couple of fillings replaced, and a crown done during that time. The dentist retired, so I went to a new practice close to where I lived. Even though it was only 6 months since my last cleaning they wanted to do a deep cleaning, replace my crown, crown another tooth and then have me come in for cleanings every 3 months. I bailed on them found another who said everything looks good come back in 6 months.

Pro tip:
If you fap right before the appointment, you're not paying them to get the easy one.

i guarantee this happened to me. went to the dentist with my dad till i was about 14. no issues. then my mom brought me to hers. First visit, 6 cavities to be filled all of a sudden, then came 4 wisdom tooth extractions. once i turned 18 i skipped the dentist for 15 years (yeah trashy). I went back to the dentist and now go every year and have never had another cavity. So we got taken for 6 fillings.

I’ve never had a cavity but went a few years without seeing a dentist and needed a new one. I decided if he told me I had a cavity I would get a second opinion. I’ve heard stories of this from a friends parent so I’m sure that this has been going on for a while.

So turned off by these new boutique dentists. Tried a new one a few years back and I think it was a total scam. Tons of tests‘scans and I had nearly $3000 worth of work to have done - most not covered. Went back to my old (pushing 80) dentist and not one issue has popped up.

Yes.

I have family in the industry, there are good dentists and there are bad dentists. You can say that about every professions but cops on here, of course there are no good cops.

I’ll play. I got a bill for my 2 year old from the dentist. This was his second appointment and at this age, they do no more than chat and give stickers. They wanted to brush his teeth but he wouldn’t let them. I got a bill for fluoride. Apparently the insurance company didn’t cover it.

He never received any.
