Jealousy and possessiveness tend to be projections from their own issues. If they think you are doing something you shouldn't...it is typically because they are doing something they shouldn't. If you can't break up, then counseling to get real communication going is the only way.

Nope. She's crazy about him. That's why I said breaking up is out of the question. She says she knows why he's insecure from his past. But I don't get it. He's one of the hottest guys I've ever met and has a good personality, aside from the irrational jealousy

Yes, but after a long time. Like years.
Mainly, she needs to find out the cause of the mistrust and work it out from there. She also needs to not bring up the past. We know our SO's have hooked up with other people prior to us, but are not big fans of hearing about it. It triggers that "I know I have her, but the fact that she brings this up means she's thinking about it" voice in the head.

Never dated anyone like that. But my experience with friends is that the behavior really never goes away. He'll always be jealous and untrusting.
