He’ll probably make $100k his first year of college…a beater doesn’t really fit. I expect he’ll just mod this car. We’ll see.

Come on now. Every teenager that has ever had a car with a low splitter figured out how to get them safely on ramps by any number of simple means without someone holding their hand.
If you want to go the adult "check wrench" route you can buy a set of ramp extenders or search what is often called "race ramps".

How to fix this?
Sell it and buy something that has more power than a soccer mom's Toyota Camry?

Not anymore. I do it. She lived by herself when my father died and move next to me afterwards a few months later. My dad always handled it. She had no one to do it.

I had some plastic ramps like that break with a Nissan altima on them. Luckily I wasn't under the car. Never changed oil again after that

Use a Floor Jack to jack the car up high enough until the ramp fits under the tire. Monitor how far the edge of the tire is from the edge of the ramp. Go to the other side and do the same thing BUT turn that ramp 180 degrees from the other one. On slopes towards the front of the car the other slopes towards the back of the car. This last step potentially keeps the car rolling off the ramps to either direction. Reverse procedure to remove-like the old Hayes Manuals would often say. Don't forget your chocblocks and sometimes I'll put a wheel under the car in case it does move.
Done this several times on my old Porsche. I've also done the stepped 2x6's several times.

If you aren’t an engineer you missed your calling.
