She's taking real, actual meds too. She's just old. And getting forgetful. shite, I don't know, maybe some of these tinctures do something.

Physica Energetics
American Nutriceuticals

Some of the companies on the bottles.

shite, they even sound like the kind of names I'd make up if I was trying to fleece old people with false hope and snake oil.

There might be no way to make the family member believe that it is nonsense. Look up some studies. Show it to the family member. I wouldn't expect it to be effective though. It's difficult if not impossible to use ration to convince somebody out of a position that was arrived at irrationally. Best bet is to convince her that gam gam doesn't want that stuff and would rather traditional medicine. Then maybe you have to decide if playing family politics is worth it and if you can get people on your side. That's up to you if you want to go through that, and I don't know your family situation if there is someone of authority that you can get on your side.

Fr33, there are frauds in homeopathic medicine, and there are people who sell herbs who don't know what they are doing. But, there are big pharmacy drugs that don't do squat either. You do have to educate yourself.

There are some good guides on Amazon.

I might be a little skeptical of Physica Energetics - all the reviews I could find seem to be generated by the company itself.

You think?
I mean, it's more the principle behind it.

It might not be exhibitant amounts of money but 200$ here and 30$ here and 60$ here adds up.

I guess you have to weigh your options. How big of a stink will it cause with your family? How much of a strain does this put on the finances?

If it isn't hurting her, she can afford it, and it would cause a huge shite storm I would leave it alone.

Sure. Because the whole thing is built on pseudoscience.

Now I'm not completely discounting natural remedies. Hell, many medicines are derived from plants. Fruits and vegetables are full of healthy vitamins and minerals. Garlic is awesome. Menthol and peppermint and sage and rosemary and all that jazz are great not only in food but have other benefits.

But forgive me if you take a bottle of sugar water and pass a crystal over it and sprinkle the essence of a willow tree with a fairy spirit trapped inside and then try to charge someone $69.74 for it. I'm gonna call you a fricking quack.

Now this is how you make a thread, fr33.

And you're fighting a losing battle. People that believe this are not going to have their minds changed

If your posts here are any indication of your mental health, then I feel sorry for your father and fully understand his concerns.

If your gam gam thinks it is a scam then why does she keep taking them? And yes they are scams, they may not hurt anything but your wallet but they definitely are not helping. Though there are many herbs and such that interact negatively with actual meds. There is a reason why we don't live in mud huts and eat raw meat anymore, just like why we don't rely on medicine healers with homemade concoctions for our medical needs. I have dealt with people who believe in this stuff and it is really no use in trying to be logical with them. Just protect your gam gam the best you can.

Look, rocks are pretty but they do frick all for your health.

I eat lots of fruit and veggies. Because that's what we are designed to do, as omnivores. Fresh fruits, fresh veggies, fresh meat, fresh fish.

Doesn't mean I'm some sort of breakthrough Doctor.

I would bring them to her primary care doc and/or pharmacist to make sure they don't contraindicate with her other prescriptions. They probably won't hurt. It's just a matter of paying for them.

Not that you would but don't ever listen to some shithead that says mental illness is made up.
