Not everyone is a watch freak though. I would say between $200 and $350 should be plenty for a normal guy to spend on a watch.
If you're an OT baller, there are certainly better watches to be had out there, but for much more money.

I think it's more like $500-$1500, a bottom of the list be ETA automatic movement costs $350.

Sure, if you're okay with quartz and you're okay with battery replacements easily surpassing the cost of your watch.... Then yeah, I guess it's fine...

I just got an email about a new Stowa watch. This is $1000 watch with an automatic ETA movement in it.

Once again, you are thinking like a watch nerd and not like an average joe.
I see a $1,000 price tag on a watch and I'm not gonna buy it. It just doesn't make sense at my current salary. The mechanics of the watch have nothing to do with the decision.

I would think that the average joe would be interested in long term value, and making informed decisions. Value + quality > looks. I'm actually not much of a watch nerd myself, in fact I'm currently not even wearing a watch, but I have done a sufficient amount of research into watches to know exactly what I would want.
