Other than someone backing into my SUV (2 months old) and driving away with a total lack of personal responsibility for the minor damage they caused, its fine from a security standpoint.

Can't blame the parking garage for trashy bastids

Would have to be the stupidest criminals ever.

They are on camera and had to use a card to get out. No cash.

Normally I park off-site and uber in to save money but when I do park on-site for shorter trips I park on the ground level in oversize parking to give me a little more room. Peoples in a hurry to get inside or to get home unpacking luggage, getting kids out, etc. is a recipe for door dings in my opinion and at least outside there is a little more room but from a safety standpoint I haven't felt any reason to consider it "unsafe". I wouldn't leave anything within eyesight (bags, etc) but thats a risk you kind of take anywhere.

Step 2, learn geography and realize that MSY is in Jefferson Parish in Kenna Brah.

Hot take though

Warning:

A friend of my girlfriend’s parked there in long term last year (might have been late 2021), woman in her late 60’s. Returned to her car in the evening around 7pm, turned the corner onto her row to find a van parked next to her car, and several men looting her car. Before she could even process what was happening, one of the men noticed her ran toward her and punched her in the face, got in the van and peeled off. Full on sprint. Grown man. She hit the deck and suffered a broken arm as a result. Airport security seemed more concerned about her filing a complaint than anything else. Cops’ attitude was basically “sh*T happens.”

Not a word if this is exaggerated and possibly the angriest I’ve ever been. This person is also an attorney. When I asked about a lawsuit, she responded, “why waste my time and money? Even if I win, the city doesn’t pay.”

Yeah this didn't happen. It would 100% make the news if it did. There are cameras at every corner. Like others said, the van would have had to either stop at the payment booth or just ram through it. This story screams housewife FB post about getting followed and trafficed while leaving target. IF YOUR SIDE VIEW MIRROR IS PUSHED IN IMMEDIATELY RUN INSIDE AND CALL 911!!!!!!

Probably about the safest place you could park around there. Thugs aren’t going to the airport to break into cars when there are so many more easy targets

What thug is going to drive a van into an area where you have to get a ticket to exit the lot to go break into a car? Would be the easiest case ever to find them

To “loot” a parked car at the airport because apparently you pack your car with valuables and leave them at the airport before you travel

Parked at MSY maybe 100 times in my life. Never had an issue and never heard of anyone having an issue.

I haven’t parked in the north terminal parking garage. I have worked at MSY for 25 years and never had any problems in the south terminal garages.

I did have a small problem getting an elevator to move about 17 years ago. I got in, the doors shut. I punched a floor number but the elevator did not move until I punched a number on the left side of the car.

I have parked in there many times over the past few years and have never even heard of an incident. I think you need to be closer to New Orleans for that to start becoming an issue.
