Didn’t Marcelo inherited the leadership title from Corrado Giacona?
The black hand was wiped out once the Giaconas took care of them in the Beaugard Keyes home off Chartres.
I am a descendant Corrado was my great great grandfather. Pietro was his father. My grandfather was a Tarantino.
We have TONS of stories and some very interesting books.

Did you know the term Mafia was coined in NO?
Yat legends are hilarious.
It comes from old world slang for something like a "big shot" or wannabe.

I thought it was Eric Kumerow?
He was a grandson. One of his sisters married John Bosa.
So, Jake Kumerow is also Tony Accordo's great-grandson (and second cousin of the Bosa brothers).
I just figured the Bosas (especially the boys) were better known these days.

Ok thanks. Are the Bosa's "blood relatives?" Too much to comprehend

I’ve always wondered what Sammy did. My dad and uncle told me to mind my business. He had a nice little house boat he let us stay on.

Yes. It goes thusly (for the Kumerows and Bosas):
Accardo's (the boss of the Chicago Outfit for decades) daughter, Marie married Palmer Pyle (out of Michigan State, was a teammate of LSU's Billy Cannon at Houston during the early days of the AFL). They had 2 children, Eric and Cheryl. When Marie remarried, Eric and Cheryl took the stepfather's name, Kumerow. Eric played in the NFL and Cheryl married John Bosa, a teammate of Eric with the Dolphins (which sort of replicated itself with our own Mason Taylor).
Eric's son, Jake, played in the NFL, as do the younger Bosas.

I may have messed this up. I think these might be first cousins -
Eric and Cheryl are bother and sister. Eric is Jake's father and Nick&Joey are Cheryl's sons, so yes, first cousins. Eric and Cheryl are Tony Accardo's grandchildren (children of his daughter Marie), Jake Kumerow, Nick & Joey Bosa are all his great-grandchildren.
Fook mi, that is a lot.

Cleary Rebels? Your dad worked for a long time? Hmmmmm, I may know your identity. Safe with me. Probably grew up with you, and drank beer at Whiteys Pool Hall
Posted on 1/5/25 at 4:37 pm to ChestRockwell

OK, coined first to describe the mob in America. Thanks for playing…
1891 New Orleans Lynchings
quote:
The term "Mafia" was first introduced to the American public in New Orleans in 1891 during the Hennessy case. The word was used loosely by journalists to sell newspapers, often linking the crimes of individual Italians to organized crime. The term "Mafia" originated in Sicily, where it was used to describe groups that protected themselves and carried out their own justice. The term "Mafioso" originally meant "brave man" and had no criminal connotation. By the 19th century, some of these groups had become private armies that extorted protection money from landowners. The Sicilian Mafia became established in the United States in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The American La Cosa Nostra evolved from the Sicilian Mafia and first surfaced in New Orleans in the 1800s.

Try reading your own link...if you are going to rely on wikipedia. That's very different than "coined in Nola." My research is a little better than your wikipedia link, but you don't even seem to comprehend what you posted.
"Thanks for playing"...genius.

Link-Belt Crane ( REECO) took some of hunting near Tuscaloosa one year. Around 1979. The B&G crane folks were there also. The Daddy , son and some of their employees. All a bunch of great guys to spend a week in the woods with.
B&G Crane had and still does have the absolute best equipment in the business. Every vehicle and piece of equipment is clean and meticulously maintained. They are pro’s.
They provided the cranes to build the Superdome.

Those are crawler crane booms sticking up to hold the arches up. They are just using them as a jack stand. When they left the job the equipment was paid for.

There was a lawyer in Baton Rouge, now deceased. Socially prominent, member of BRCC, his daughters were debutantes. But he was supposedly also Carlos's go to guy in dealing with the state. If you wanted a tax variance for your business you got in touch with Carlos, who got in touch with his guy, and it got done. Life Magazine did an expose on him in the seventies, he sued, they couldnt prove the allegations and were forced to retract.
