$100MM / 27 heirs = $3.7MM plus the aforementioned cushy jobs at the foundation.

Seems odd that you would sit on that much net worth while living, if you were just going to turn around and give it all away to charity.

I think he did. Instead of paying estate tax on 3.5 billion they’re paying tax on 100 million.

Let's do the math (in general for discussion purposes...there are other nuances).

40% of $3.5 Billion = $1.4 Billion in taxes.

Left over: $2.1 BILLION.

16.5% of $100 Million = $40 million in taxes.

Left over: $60 Million.

IDK about you but I'd take $2.1 Billion over $60 Million every time.

Sounds similar to what John D. Rockefeller did with his money. It was all going to "charity", however all of his descendants are loaded to this day while being professional philanthropists.

Makes it seem like there is a lot more money and assets that they don't want the federal government and the public to know about. Hmmmmmmm...

Can a charity actually manage 3.4 billion dollars?

NPR... has McDonalds heiress money out the fricking arse and are left wing AF. They are the highest paid media and taking big time tax dollars to trash the man you put in office - but that’s another story

The other 3.4 billion goes into a charity run by the family so they can still spend money and say it’s for the charity.

I'm going with the fact that the charity charter has some spending restrictions. Whereas billions of dollars after taxes, does not

Correct.

And I'm sure get fat salaries from the foundation.

To answer your original question, NOT VERY. He likely dispersed something close to 20B prior to death to avoid paying "frick me one last time" taxes of almost 10B. This thread should be renamed "How pissed is Uncle Sam?"

Steven Hilton, the CEO, is paid $575k/yr from the Foundation. I'm sure the rest of the family does very well too.

None of that changes the fact that most of this money will still be used for charitable purposes. It's a pretty noble thing to do.

5 of the 9 board members of the Foundation are family members.
