re: How much worse do you think Sodom and Gomorrah were than today’s world?

Hell is the absence of God. As it applies to each human being the decision to choose God (or reject Him) is an individual choice and therefore....
Choices have consequences, and really bad choices have catastrophic consequences.
Amen! I concur in spirit with your description of Hell. "Absence" of God and Light for sure. (Fire and "gnashing of teeth" is another descriptor of Hell).
I appreciate your Christian faith and support of the Gospel.
quote:
[A]t Fatima, Portugal in 1918 the Mother of God appeared to three Shepherd children and told the children,"Many souls go to hell because there is no one to pray for them". You save enough souls and you have a chance to save the world.
My brutha -- with all due respect...I do have a few quibbles.
As per Biblical Authority, once we are dead in the flesh our lot is cast and our Eternal Destiny already decided. No one left on earth can help the Dead's fate by "praying" for them once they are gone.
With respect to Marian apparitions and Mary's supposed words of warning and encouragement, they sound great. But both her image and especially her encouragement to pray to "save" souls from Hell are Deception and un-Biblical. (The blessed Mother Mary herself was/is NOT Divine, NOR an Angel or a Messenger of God. She was a mortal Human just like us who will "rise in Christ").
Couple of personal Anecdotes:
I had a very good friend whose family traveled to "see" Fatima -- who began appearing all over the world.
HIS good friend had a Marian Shrine at his NY backyard visited by hundreds whenever he'd "receive a message" from Mary. (1990s) It and the parking situation got so crazy that the town PD had to shut it down. The friend claimed "Mary" would "speak" to him in front of the crowds.
From the creepy story file:
That same friend of mine AND his sisters ALL swore the lips of a painting / picture of "Mary" would at time visibly move as though speaking. (3 of them). (Did I still consider them "Christian"? Yes.)
Question: Are demonic spirits or Satan able to "deceive the very Elect"? The Bible says so.
The Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons.
(1 Timothy 4:1)
For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.
Matthew 24:24
quote:
To affirm the validity of the apparitions, the Mother of God pointed to the Sun, and it appeared to detach itself from the sky and to come crashing to earth. Then it halted and returned to its place in the sky. There were estimates of 70 thousand people who witnessed the Miracle of the Sun including newspaper reporters.
I've been aware of the Marian phenomena and several other ongoing instances of it around the world "witnessed" by thousands. "Mary" has given several exhortations that simply are not Scripturally possible.
quote:
God wants sinners to repent - He doesn't want anybody to be lost. That is why He made the decision to descent from His heavenly throne and take on the form of a man. That man is Our Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ.
Amen! Again, I appreciate your Christian fellowship. And your sharing of the Gospel. All that matters.

Still love you too, bro.

This says nothing about how common it was. All it says it don’t do it.
Hahaha! Right. It was so uncommon they just decided to throw it in anyway. You are never going to believe, so what does it matter the source?
I was responding to someone that had never heard crossdressing existed during Biblical times.
They didn’t keep records of cross dressers back then, but it happened enough to be documented in religious texts. There is not going to be reliable data for you if the Bible is not authoritative historical text for you. You are not looking for an answer, you are looking for an argument.

Mister, that's just lazy.
Gonna have to give you an "Incomplete" (instead of a D-). You'll never make my Dean's List.

It is my supreme wish that one day we can discuss these matters as brothers and sisters in a civilized, non-attacking manner.
I'd start with not letting a guy who legitimately believes the Earth is flat and doubts the existence of gravity lead said conversation.

Just wait until you learn of the things that were commonplace in Ancient Greek and Roman civilizations. The pearl clutchers of modern times wouldn’t know how to act if they were dropped off there in Doc’s DeLorean.

God is Love.
Yup. (Unless one is on the literal Business End of God's Wrath).
For those who worship the Beast (or are indifferent about the Lord), the term "Tough Love" is going to be redefined on Judgement Day.
I am honestly flabbergasted by folks who take Eternity and Final Verdict so lightly. It's a worst case Freddy's Nightmare...spent with "Freddy" FOREVER.
Do you think disbelievers or non-believers understand the serious gravity of the situation?
At that the very second we expire in this Physical Realm we'll immediately find ourselves standing before the holy presence of the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, Creator of All Things, and Judge of Judges?

"Said Conversation" is not real.

I'd start with not letting a guy who legitimately believes the Earth is flat and doubts the existence of gravity lead said conversation.
He would walk / ride through town, allowing the villagers to ask him their questions. Obviously, those villagers were very eager to ask their questions to such a high priest...
The story says, his response to every question was, "I don't know."
And by that, his wisdom was revealed to each question asker...
Probably sounds stupid to you

Where do you want to take that fascinating tangent? It's got potential.

Like I said, selling the end times is big business.
Pretty sure Jesus and Paul were both apocalyptic preachers. Jesus telling people that some here will not taste death, and Paul preaching to abstain from marriage, because time is so short, finding love is in vain.

We understand the situation; we simply don’t believe you’re correct in what you describe. It’s really that simple.
What I find fascinating is how many religious folk claim to believe, wholeheartedly, what you’ve described, and yet live their lives as though their faith, and acting out their faith, isn’t anything approaching a priority. If I believed what mainline Christians claim to believe, I would live every waking moment in fear and trembling.

Maybe. If the Qur’an could be proven true, would you become a Muslim?

I’m not gonna do the work for you, watch it and give me your feedback. I think it speaks for itself hence why I’m not lining reason up for you to just retort . Why are you so afraid to watch it?

Much of Paul’s letters were concerning split congregations of a young church. Jewish Christians, pagan converts, mixing traditions. His main message was of unity. Here he is not talking about demons, but of Gnosticism, and not of some far off future, but a present danger, because he believed Jesus is coming back any day.
