Packed up 4 br, hauled 12 hours away, and unloaded.
How much should we tip the guys?
TIA; searched but couldn’t find anything.

I'd Go with $75-$100 a piece if it's 2 workers for that large of a move. Also, provide some drinks and some sandwiches/quick snack.
Remember, you're not tipping them for moving you, you're tipping them so they don't come back and rob you.

You're already paying them. Offer them something to drink

Haha. That’s a $1,200 tip. Not doing that

Most people are so cheap they would be happy to get anything, but I would go with minimum $50.00 each, if it was a multi-floor move up stairs make it a $100.00 each minimum. Never give the tip to one guy, and tell him to split it with the others, unless it is done in plain sight of the others movers, so they know he got the money. Best is to have exact amount in cash for each guy. I once worked as a mover during college years.

This seems quite reasonable.
Question: You moved 12 hours away and it’s the same group of guys that loaded and unloaded the truck?

They have already tipped themselves by stealing some of your items.

$150 total if ground level. Add $50 per flight of stairs

I've worked as a mover. A reasonable tip will be considered a finder's fee, meaning that the movers will "find" some items that just happened not to make it into your house and give them to you.

I wouldn’t worry about tipping them

I moved a few blocks over, did the small stuff myself, and gave them $25 each. Was about a 2 hr job.

You know how I know you didn’t work as a mover?

Yes. Had 3 pack and load and 2 of the 3 unloaded.

We hired a crew to move all our big stuff. Nothing was broken, and they didn’t put holes in sheet rock, I tipped them 25 a piece, and lunch with pizza and beer...
We moved a minute away...

agree completely with this...I hadn't thought about the possibility of stairs, which would double the tip, IMO. Also, damn good point about giving the tip to one guy...

I used TD search, dick. Nothing came up, so to speak.
I went $200 total. Great guys and went over the top for some bizarre request my wife had(move shite multiple times).
Thanks for the inputs. Now time to unpack some boxes.
