but owning an office (building) is different than owning the business
Thanks for clearing that up, CheeseburgerEddie. I had no idea those two weren't the same thing.

Yeah I guess you have to be a doctor to own a hospital now too
Someone better tell the Catholic Church

I'm not speaking of hospitals or clinics. I'm speaking of dental offices.
There are many laws in many states that state you have to be a dentist to run a dental office. I know Wisconsin is different but didn't think Georgia was. Maybe have some equity in the company but not 100%
The dental industry and medical industry are quite different

Are you a dentist as well or do you manage the books, payroll, benefits, do the marketing etc...?
No, I am not a doctor. My role would be more defined as an office manager/consultant(who has skin in the game). I'm at the point now where I will hire out all of the mgmt positions to qualified individuals so that the dentist only has to worry about cleaning and fixing teeth.
Dental offices are just like any other business in America. They have overhead, inventory, staffing, and financial aspects that can't all be performed by a single dentist. Many dentists don't realize this and bite off way more than they can chew. That's where I come in.

Well investors will typically own the medical office building and lease it as it is less risky and often requires minimal involvement/management

I assume that Grizzley owns the building and the dentist leases the space.

This is correct. However, Georgia allows private equity firms to own and operate dental practices. Each state has it's own regulations.

Again, CheeseburgerEddie, I had no idea. Funny thing as you think I would have learned this at some point of being in Real Estate for 15 years, but thanks for the help.
Also, it's pretty evident that when he was talking about acquisitions he was referring to the business itself.

Alright thanks, that's what I figured but was trying to make sure.
Im in dental school at the moment and have been looking into the business side quite a bit lately and that's why I was curious!

Don't get mad at me that you're playing Captain Obvious in this thread.

Wouldn't that answer depend on when you turned 25?
