Payroll taxes pay for the social programs that we like to bitch about around here so at least give the working poor credit for contributing at the same rate as everyone else for that.
You sure? How bout those "earned income" credits. Many get that back. Even more will draw more out of those programs than they ever put it. That's not a "tax" baw. That's a handout.

You must not be familiar with the pay received by the average person in most countries, including your beloved European Social democracies. LINK

On April 15th, a whole heck of a lot. For the year, an even more astounding number. And this doesn't count sales tax or real estate tax.

Married and filing jointly with most of our income taxed as payroll so our effective rate came out to almost 29%. Getting close to where we'll be paying a 15-20% effective rate but we aren't quite wealthy enough yet...
ETA: I'll edit for sarcasm check but still can't wait for our non-taxable revenue streams to add up.

Same, but it was April 18th this year. I thought my quarterly payments were ridiculous enough in 2015 and even though I made more last year than in 2014 I didn't think I would owe much at all today because I had over 15k more in write-offs than the prior year but sure enough I had to pay another $5171 to the United States Treasury today. frick the bullshite, I at least deserve thank you notes from all of the deadbeats.

What hurts the most is knowing how it will be spent...

Just finished filing and now I'm fixing to get wasted.
