1966 Mustang - $2,400 (wife couldn't drive the stick shift)
1967 Datsun pickup truck - $2,000
1970 Pontiac LeMans - $3,800
1971 VW - $1,800
1973 Plymouth - $3,500
1978 Olds Cutlass - $5,900
1980 Mercury Gran Marquis - $6,500
1982 Volkswagen Scirocco - $7,000
1987 Ford Escort Station Wagon (wife wanted it) - $7,500
1990 Lincoln Continental (used from Avis) - $10,000
1991 Toyota Camry (V-6) - $15,000
1965 Porsche 356C - $12,000 (+$15,000 for restoration)
2001 Toyota Camry - $23,000
2012 Toyota Avalon - $35,000 (totaled)

Bought my Jeep as my first purchase out of school. Paid 25k, still drive it 8 years later.

Very little, since I've always worked in a job where the company reimbursed me enough or more to pay for it.
