In March of 08 I bought an 89 gmc for $800 and drove it till October of 2011, bought another pickup for 10k. Bought my wife’s car in early 2011 for 14k. Both of those paid off. Oldest daughter’s car was bought in summer of 2015 for 8k, straight A student so we got a nicer car and had a good deal on it. 2014 Chevy Cruz with 20,000 miles on it. Her car will be paid off in a few months. So yea, add it up.

I bought two f250s in 2005 right after Katrina because of need not want. 104k in one day.

My last car needed about $1000 a year in repairs.
$1000/year is under $100 a month, which is a lot less than a note and the increase in insurance for financing one.

These are old Land Cruisers and mileage really doesn’t matter, especially because most of their odometers were only 5 digits.
I have a 1983 FJ-40 that is one of only like 56 made, if anyone is interested in buying. It’s the holy grail of US Land Cruisers.

A lot, but I like to trade in when I can. Also, not afraid to be at a car dealership for hours. Some people though carry over a lot of negative equity when they shouldn't.

Interesting thread. Added them all up and i am at 520k for wife and it. Probably after resale around 300k. Not i am on year 8 on a tundra and year 2 on a 4 runner. Probably run each until the wheels roll off or give to son. Am itching for new vehicles though.

$247,000 and I am still driving the one I bought new in 2002. Go figure.
