About $150 per week. Family of 3.

Not counting alcohol or toiletries about 50

Most of these people are lying their asses off. $100 for a family of four? Come on. I’m insulted that you think I’m that stupid.

Family of 5 and I wish we only spent 1200 a week on food/toiletries.

I mean I know you can. You could buy nothing but rice and beans from Wally World and do it, but why would you want to? Most people with a Louisiana Purchase care are eating better than you.

This year, it looks like I'm averaging about $42/week on groceries (including misc items). But the gf always cooks a few times a week as well.
I'm also spending $12/week fast food and $49/week at restaurants, which just disgusts me.

My daily food schedule during the week is;
2 bananas in the morning, maybe a couple of string cheese in the afternoon at work, and two sandwiches for dinner. Sometimes this changes up but generally not too much. Health wise is debatable, but I certainly save money eating two mean s day and one of those meals is bananas lol.
As to day to day non food? I live by myself. I might get toilet paper once every 6 months. Maybe paper towels once a month. Those costs are highly spread out.

I feed my family of 5 on a $600 a month food budget. If you are smart, you can do it easily. I buy bulk meat at Costco or on sale at the grocery store and break it down into smaller packages and freezer.
Couple examples on how to do it. I have two 9lb hams in my freezer which were on sale for .99/lb. I will smoke a ham, make a soup from the leftover ham, red beans from the bone, leftover ham for sandwiches for a week, cubans, omelette, breakfast for dinner, etc. Whatever is left after 3-4 days, I package up and freeze the leftovers to eat again. I also have two 8lb pork butts I get for cheap and do the same thing.
Our bigger expenses during the week are deli cheese and fruits and vegetables. Without buying meat every week, my bills are around $60-80 a week at the grocery store. Alcohol not included so not sure if that counts or not.
Bottom line, get a vacuum sealer and a deep freezer and you will be amazed at what you can save.

When I was single I didn’t buy groceries

It's different when it's just you, rather than you and a wife and children.
I mean, yeah - I could get by on eating just ramen noodles and fried bologna sandwiches for breakfast lunch and dinner if I was broke.

At least $300. Seems I never walk out for less than a hundred. That usually includes wine. Family of five, and we eat like royalty. Life’s too short.
